Before you write
What helps us answer usefully
You do not need a specification. The most useful first message says what is not working today, who it affects, and roughly when you would like it solved. Two paragraphs are plenty. If you already have screenshots, a spreadsheet that has grown into a system, or a site you want replaced, send them: they tell us more than a list of requested features.
If you have a budget range in mind, say it. It is not a negotiating position, it is what lets us tell you in the first call whether the project fits, whether it should be split into stages, or whether a product you can buy would serve you better than anything we would build for you.
We answer in French or in English, and we work with clients across France and remotely. Every quote is a fixed price issued after a short scoping phase, and the source code of whatever we build is delivered to you.
Questions
Before the first call
What happens in the first call?
Thirty minutes, no slides. You describe the problem, we ask about volumes, deadlines and the systems already in place, and we tell you whether it is a project for us and in what range. If we are not the right people, we say so during the call rather than a week later.
Is a quote free?
The first call and the rough range cost nothing. A firm fixed price comes after a short scoping phase, because a number given before anyone has looked at your process is a guess. Scoping is quoted on its own and its output is yours whatever you decide to do next.
Do you work outside Paris?
Yes. We are based in the 8th arrondissement and happy to meet there, and we work with clients across France and remotely. On longer projects we plan on-site sessions at the moments that matter: scoping, sign-off on the mockups, and the days around going live.
Can you take over an existing project?
Often, yes. We start by reading the code and telling you plainly what shape it is in, what can be kept and what should be rewritten. That review is quoted separately and short, so you can decide with facts rather than take a position on a project neither of us has seen.
